Why PDFWix

Four promises: no watermarks, no signup, no daily limits, files stay in your browser.

No watermarks — ever

Every PDF that comes out of PDFWix is clean. No stamp, no overlay, no QR code in the corner. Free tools elsewhere often add a watermark to push you toward a paid tier — we don't, because PDFWix earns revenue from a paid developer API for businesses, not from end-user friction.

No signup required

Drop a file, get the result. No email gate before download, no "create a free account to continue". Optional sign-in only exists if you want tool history saved across devices — every tool works fine without it.

No daily limits

iLovePDF caps free users at one task per hour for many tools. Smallpdf limits you to two free tasks per day. PDFWix has no per-day, per-hour or per-IP cap — merge a hundred files in a row if you need to.

Files stay in your browser

Most PDFWix tools — Merge, Split, Compress, Edit, Sign, Protect, Unlock, Rotate, Watermark — run entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. Your file never reaches our servers. The few server-side tools (HEIC conversion, OCR) auto-delete uploads within one hour.

PDFWix vs the competition

Watermark on free output: PDFWix never; Smallpdf no; iLovePDF no. Signup required to download: PDFWix never; Smallpdf after 2 daily tasks; iLovePDF after 1 task/hour for some tools. Daily task limit: PDFWix unlimited; Smallpdf 2/day; iLovePDF 1/hour for many tools. Files processed in browser: PDFWix most tools (WASM); Smallpdf server-side; iLovePDF server-side.

Frequently asked questions

Is PDFWix really 100% free?

Yes. No daily limit, no watermark, no signup required. We sustain the project through a paid developer API for businesses.

How is PDFWix different from Smallpdf or iLovePDF?

Three things: no daily task cap, most processing happens in your browser instead of on our servers, and no upsell prompts inside the workflow.

Are my files safe?

Most tools never upload your file — they run in your browser via WebAssembly. The few server-side tools auto-delete uploads within one hour over TLS.
