Free PDF Tools Online — No Watermark, No Signup
Merge, split, compress, convert, edit and sign PDFs in seconds. 24 tools, no account required. Most tools run entirely in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
500,000+ users monthly · 24 free tools · No limits, no watermarks, no signup
PDFWix is a free online PDF toolkit offering 24 tools to merge, split, compress, convert, edit and sign PDF files. Unlike most free PDF services, PDFWix imposes no daily task limits, adds no watermarks to output files, and requires no account or signup to use any tool. Twenty-two of the 24 tools run entirely inside the user's browser using WebAssembly technology — meaning the PDF file never leaves the device. The two server-side tools (Protect PDF and Unlock PDF) process files in memory only and never write them to disk. PDFWix is available on any device with a modern browser, including iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, and Chromebook, with no app installation required.
How PDFWix compares
PDFWix differs from iLovePDF, Smallpdf, and PDF24 in three measurable ways: it enforces no daily task limits on any tool, it never adds a watermark or branding to output files, and the majority of its tools process files locally in the browser rather than uploading them to a server. Competitors including iLovePDF limit free users to two tasks per day, while Smallpdf requires an account for more than two daily conversions and adds watermarks on some free-tier outputs. PDF24 offers no task limits but does not offer browser-only processing for most tools.

How PDFWix works
Drop your file
Drag a PDF (or several) into the upload area, or click to pick. Browser-side tools handle files as large as your device's RAM allows. Password-protected PDFs prompt for the password.
Process in-browser when possible
Most PDFWix tools run inside your browser using WebAssembly — your file never leaves your device. Tools that need server help (Protect, Unlock) send the file over HTTPS and process it in memory only.
Download — nothing kept behind
Your output is ready in seconds. Browser-side jobs leave nothing behind. Server-side jobs process the file in memory and discard it as soon as the response is returned.
Your files stay private
- ✓ HTTPS on every upload and download.
- ✓ Browser-side tools never send your file anywhere — full stop.
- ✓ Server-side tools (Protect, Unlock) process your file in memory and never write it to disk.
- ✓ No accounts required, no tracking pixels embedded in your downloads.
- ✓ We never read, scan, index, or train AI models on your documents.
- ✓ GDPR-aligned. EU users can request data access or deletion at any time.
Why we built PDFWix
Most "free" PDF tools come with strings: signups after the second task, watermarks on the output, daily caps that nudge you toward a paid plan, or quietly slow processing to make the upgrade look attractive.
PDFWix was built differently. Every tool here is free, fast, and will stay that way. We don't sell your data, we don't store the files our server-side tools process, and we don't add watermarks to anything you create. If we ever introduce paid features, the core tools stay free — that's the promise.

Frequently asked questions
Is PDFWix really free?
Yes. Every tool on PDFWix is free to use with no daily task limits and no watermarks added to your files. We may charge for high-volume API usage in the future, but the web tools stay free.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Every tool works without signing in. An optional free account just keeps a history of your conversions (filename and tool only — never your files) and unlocks the developer API.
Do you store my files?
Most tools (merge, split, rotate, watermark, edit, JPG↔PDF, etc.) run entirely in your browser — your file never reaches our server. The two tools that need server processing (Protect PDF, Unlock PDF) process your file in memory and never write it to disk.
What's the maximum file size?
Browser-side tools handle PDFs as large as your device's RAM allows — roughly 100 MB on a typical laptop, less on phones. Server-side tools (Protect, Unlock) accept files up to about 25 MB per request.
Do you add watermarks to my PDFs?
No. PDFWix never adds a watermark, footer, or branding to anything you create. The output is exactly what you asked for, nothing else.
Does PDFWix work on iPhone, Android, and Chromebook?
Yes. PDFWix is a web app — it runs in any modern browser on any device. There's nothing to install. You can also add it to your home screen on iOS or Android for a one-tap launcher.
How is PDFWix different from iLovePDF or Smallpdf?
Three differences: most PDFWix tools run inside your browser (your file never leaves the device), there are no daily task caps on the free tier, and we never put a watermark on your output. As of June 2026, PDFWix has 24 live tools across merge, split, compress, sign, redact, and convert with no daily task limit and no file upload for 22 of them. See our detailed iLovePDF comparison and Smallpdf comparison.
Is PDFWix safe for confidential documents?
For browser-side tools, yes — your file is processed locally and never transmitted anywhere. For the two server-side tools (Protect, Unlock), files travel over HTTPS and are processed in memory only. We never read, scan, or train AI on your documents. Read our full security details →
Can I use PDFWix for commercial work?
Yes. There's no license restriction on what you produce with PDFWix. Use it for client work, internal documents, contracts, anything. The developer API is available if you need to embed PDF processing into your own product.
What happens if a tool fails or I find a bug?
Email support@pdfwix.com or use the "Report an issue" link in the footer. We read every message and ship fixes quickly.
Which PDF tools run entirely in my browser?
Twenty-two of the 24 PDFWix tools run entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your file never leaves your device. The two exceptions are Protect PDF and Unlock PDF, which require server processing but handle your file in memory only and never write it to disk. Learn more about how online PDF tools handle your files →
Is there a file size limit?
Browser-based tools handle files up to the available RAM on your device — typically 500MB or more on modern computers. Server-side tools (Protect, Unlock) currently support files up to 100MB.
Does PDFWix work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. All 24 PDFWix tools are fully optimised for mobile browsers. No app install required — open pdfwix.com in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android and every tool works exactly the same as on desktop.
