Choosing the right kind of watermark
A corner watermark at 30–50% opacity is the most common choice for portfolios, social media and product photos: it credits you without hiding the image. A centred watermark is harder to crop out and suits photos you share publicly before a sale. A tiled watermark repeats across the whole picture and is the strongest deterrent — ideal for client proofs, real-estate previews and stock samples, where the goal is to show the photo without making it usable. No watermark is impossible to remove, but a larger, tiled or centred mark makes removal far more work than simply asking for permission. Keep your unmarked originals safe and share only the watermarked copies.
